Our club is in the Creston area. We have rides scheduled from April to October. The actual start and end of season may vary based on snow cover. The area that we ride in spans from Castlegar in the west to Moyie to the east and Crawford area to the north.
Rides range from 49 km to 130 km. Normally we would have an initial meeting location, then we drive to a staging area. From meeting to end of ride normal time frame is 9am to 5pm.
Creston is at an elevation of 620 m and rides could take us to an elevation of over 2100 m (from 1640 ft to 6900 ft).
Rides consists of several stops with a lunch break. Normally there would be 1 ride per week. During the summer, there may be cancellations during Smokey and hot weather (over 30).
Level of ride difficulty on scale from 1-10 would be 5-7. We normally keep speed to 35-45 km/hr.
During the year, we have other events and activities. Also, some members get together and go on non-club rides.
Club Membership
When you join a club in BC. there are 2 memberships. One is for the local club, and the other is ATV/BC. Membership are purchased through the ATV/BC web site. Single membership is $75 ($50 for ATV/BC and $25 for the local club). The combo membership is $120 ($85 for ATV/BC and $35 for the local club) and is limited to maximum of 4 members in the same household.
To ride an ATV in BC, the are several restrictions pertaining to licensing, safety, and age. Whether you are new to the sport or a seasoned rider, it is important to know current regulations Off-road vehicle safety, plus know the manufacturer’s safety limits of your vehicle.
In BC, an off-road license and $200,000 liability is required (discount if a Club member). ATV/BC provides coverage up to $5,000,000 liability for club activities.
When you join a club in BC, you could go on rides with other clubs (i.e. Cranbrook, Fernie). Club locations are available on the ATV/BC website.
